It has been about a month since Humble Pie Home & Kitchen went live online. This week, we hosted our first ever pop up shop in Washington, DC.
I can tell you that there is a lot of big work that goes in to setting up a small space! I’ve spent the last two days loading, unloading, packing and unpacking inventory along with hauling tables, signs and displays. It has been a rewarding experience to meet new customers and hear their reactions to products and to learn about the retail trade in general. I am now thinking about things like what peak hours are for foot traffic, customer-preferred methods of purchase and of course sales tax collection and remittance.
Our location is in what I would call a “retail incubator” space called Poppir Place. We share space with new brands and online retailers looking for an offline presence. The other entrepreneurs I have met are inspiring and helpful to us newbies too!
Until the next time,
A Humble Thanks,
CSC
